Why Should You Become a US Citizen?

Let’s face it; people come to the United States of America for almost as many different reasons as there are countries. But the bottom line is that these people are looking to leave the country that they were born in and to immigrate to a foreign land. What on earth could prompt someone to make that huge of a decision? What makes this country the place that so many people want to become citizens of?

People want to obtain a US Visa so that they can legally be in this country. They often get the online immigration forms after reading US Immigration eBooks and then do what they can to fit in to the society in their new country. For many it is the desire to get to a better way of life where they are limited on what they can achieve only by the amount of time, seat, and effort that they put in to it.

This is one of the only countries in the world where a poor person, even and immigrant, can rise to riches and fame beyond their wildest dreams by simply applying themselves. You will get what you put into it and the more you wish to try and achieve, the more that you can achieve. Yes some people come here for what they determine to be the good life.

Many people want to come because the United States has some of the best health care available in the world. There are ground breaking advances made in medicine here almost on a daily basis. So certainly if you have an illness that you need to have treated and are out of options, that is a good reason to make your way here. You will have to put up with the online immigration forms and the immigration eBooks to obtain a US Visas but to most that is a small price to pay to get to live in the land of opportunity.

Opportunity here in this country is abundant and there are generally more ways to make ends meet here than you can find in any other country in the world. You truly can work as much or as little as your body, desire and skill set will allow.

It is not easy to become a citizen and it gets harder every year to make that transition. You will need to read the immigration eBooks and fill out the paper or the online immigration forms and spend a large sum of money in the form of filing fees in order to finally get your US Visa, but it is a price worth paying.

So regardless of the reason that you might be thinking of becoming a member of this country there is only one thing that matters. That is that you actually want to become a legal resident. If that is the case then it really doesn’t matter why you want to be here, just that you do want to be here. That is all that is truly important in the equation.

Reasons to Become a US Citizen

There are lots of reasons that people strive and work to become a Citizen of the United States of America. First and foremost is that the opportunities to advance your self here in this country abound. People of very meager means are capable of doing great things in this country and even the poorly educated individuals can end up becoming rich through hard work and perseverance. That is something that can’t be said in a lot of countries around the globe.

Here in the United States we have some of the most advanced heath care that can be found anywhere. Granted it might be somewhat expensive, but the medical staff in this country can fairly quickly and accurately ascertain the issues at hand and find a way to treat or cure whatever they find. The education system here is also top notch and people come from all over the world to take advantage of the opportunities that we have for education and learning here.

A Green Card can be obtained from the US Immigration department through the filing of the US immigration forms and once you have citizenship here the cost of the services available both for medical and educational drop dramatically. Many places that offer higher education have tuition incentives for people that are local residents. This is something that you can become by moving into a town where the university is located, but that can usually only happen if you are a citizen.

The freedoms that citizens enjoy here range from the ability to go from state to state without harassment, the ability to vote and to help decide who is going to hold which offices in our government and the ability to own your own home and start a business either with your own money or by borrowing money from a financial institution. This is a fairly easy process in comparison to many other countries around the world.

The United States has long been called the “melting pot” of the world where people from varied cultures and backgrounds come together in one area. That diversity makes it very easy for you to exchange ideas and options with other people and come up with things that might otherwise be impossible. This includes the wide ranges of ethnic and religious backgrounds that are present here make it easy for anyone to fit in and for most any thing to become a possibility. In many countries thing that are considered average and an every day occurrence in the United States are simply not seen and in many cases are not even spoken about.

The ability to basically do what you want here, as long as it is not illegal, without the fear of reprisal, is a big part of what makes this country what it is today. The ability to try out an idea that seems bizarre to your neighbor without worrying about being arrested for it is one of the foundations that make this country as great as it is.

There are many benefits of becoming a citizen of the United States. These benefits include freedom of religion, education, democracy, government assistance, and so much more.

One of the biggest benefits of being a citizen of the United States is that you have the freedom to do as you please as long as you are not hurting or affecting anyone else or breaking the law in any way. There are only a few things you are required to do and that is pay taxes, wear clothing in public, and obey the laws. You have the right to freedom of speech and to be who you want to be. If you have big dreams and goals then the US is the place for you to be.

Another benefit of being a United States citizen is freedom of religion. Many countries like China don’t allow you to practice any religion other than what the government tells you is okay. If you are a Christian and you let it be known in China by putting out artificial Christmas trees then you could be beheaded or hanged. In the United States you can have as many artificial Christmas trees you want to celebrate the holidays. You see lighted palm trees throughout the cities too. People have the freedom to celebrate any religion they want to when they are a citizen of the US.

Education is a very big benefit in the United States. Every single person who is a legal citizen is entitled to up to $120,000 of loans from the government in education assistance so you can obtain a higher degree, master’s degree, and a doctorate. No one is denied when they want a degree and an education. Many countries judge you by your grades in school and determine for you what you will be in life like China. Other countries make you pay for your education on your own. The United States recognizes that if they financially help you with your education then you will be prepared to make more money and contribute to the economy better while you can pay the loans back monthly after you are established in a high paying career.

Government assistance is another benefit of being a citizen. The government helps everyone in need. There are free shelters for people to live in. The government gives people money for living expenses if they find they cannot afford it. They offer a retirement plan through a program known as social security which will take care of you once you are too old to work anymore. The government takes care of the citizens through big financial returns on their taxes every year and much more.

There are many benefits of becoming a United States citizen that you should consider if you live somewhere that doesn’t allow you to be free through speech, religion, and life. The government helps people and encourages a high education too. You can live out your big dreams when you come to the US and become a citizen.

Ways to Become a Citizen of the US

If you really want to become a citizen of the United States there are many ways you can do it. These ways include apply through INS, marry a citizen, have a child, relative already residing in the US, and much more.

One of the ways you can earn your citizenship as an American is to apply through INS. You may already be living in the states or you may not. Many of the things that will get you in fast is if you have a high degree in an industry that is thriving in the US. If you have a lot of money and you want to start your own business in the states it will contribute to the economy and is usually welcomed with open arms. This would have to be a business making a lot of money and employing a lot of people also. If you wanted to come to the states to open a business selling artificial Christmas trees then it may not look good. That is because artificial trees sell primarily during the holiday season. In addition, you can only make so much money selling prelit artificial Christmas trees.

One of the easiest ways to become an American citizen is by marrying someone who is already a citizen of the states. You will not be denied if you marry someone. However, you will have to prove to the government that you really are in love and married because you care about the person and not because you want to become a citizen. You will have to go through counseling sessions, testing, and other verification processes in order to be approved. This process can take up to 10 years to complete.

If you come to the United States and you have a child while you are in the states then your child is a citizen. This will allow you to stay because your child is a citizen and the parents are allowed to live in the states in cases like this. One thing to keep in mind is that you still have to apply for citizenship. Just because your child is born in the US doesn’t mean you are a citizen forever. You will have to apply because once your child turns 18 and is old enough to take care of him or herself you will no longer have permission to be there.

If you are a citizen of the US and you have a child in another country that is not, you can apply for citizenship of your children. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a priority to how the government considers approval. Sons that are not married and do not have a family to bring to the states are approved first. Women that are not married and that do not have a family are second in line. If you have a member of your family that has children they are in most cases not considered.

There are many ways you can become a citizen of the United States. If you have a child in the states, marry a citizen, apply through the normal process, and plan on opening a new company then you have good chances that you will be considered.

Understanding US Citizenship

I have a friend who works as an online marketing consultant. Lately, she has been learning how to become a US citizen. By speaking to her and helping her practice for her citizenship interview and classes, I have gained a whole new appreciation for citizenship. For example, when describing to my friend the benefits of becoming a citizen rather than just a resident, I realized that a citizen has the right to:

1) Vote in national, local, and state elections. To my friend, this is a big deal because growing up she could not take the right to vote for granted. Voting allows citizens to shape their future nation. It’s a right that many people in other countries have died for.

2) Travel on a US passport. This not only allows the US citizen to enter and leave the country relatively easily, but it ensures that any traveler who encounters problems overseas – whether those problems are caused by natural pr man-made disasters – can turn to US embassies and US consulates abroad. If there is a problem or a disaster while you are traveling and you have your US passport, the US government will do all it can to get you home or get you to safety as quickly as possible.

3) Sponsor relatives for permanent resident status. This can be a great comfort if a relative is in danger overseas or needs to escape a difficult situation at home.

In addition to gaining a new appreciation for the merits of citizenship, I have learned a great deal about the citizenship process. Applying for citizenship begins with an application provided by the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services. An applicant for citizenship must fill out a fingerprint chart, a biographic information sheet and an official application, all of which are free forms. These forms ask for some of the usual things you might expect — name, address, birth date. The fingerprint chart was a surprise to me, though.

The applicant needs to get their fingerprints taken at a local police station, sheriff’s office or INS office and must sign the chart while the person taking the fingerprints witnesses the signature. The person taking the fingerprints also signs the fingerprint chart. In addition to the application forms and fingerprint chart, an applicant needs three unsigned photographs of his or her face. There is a long list of requirements for these pictures, but most photographers who take passport photos are familiar with these rules and can take pictures that are correct for the citizenship application.

Once the application package is submitted, the applicant needs to wait until the Bureau of Citizen and Immigration Services can review the application. As I have learned from my friend, this can be a rather nerve-wracking time. Even though the application forms all include detailed instructions, it’s still hard for an applicant to be 100% sure that the application is acceptable. A small mistake can mean a delay or rejection, which is why most applicants fill out their applications very carefully and check and recheck the forms again.
